Common questions
How many square meters of living space can I heat with an IR heating element?
It depends not only on the size of the square meter, but also on the room height, orientation, existing thermal insulation and outdoor temperature, which and how many IR heating elements you need. The following experience values are a rough guide for a building with modern thermal insulation:
Värmebehov stable
Värm effect | Dimensions of the heating element | Rumstorlek |
---|---|---|
210 W | 600x400mm | 2-3 kvm |
250 W. | 900 x 350 mm | 3-4 kvm |
400 watts | 700 x 600 mm | 7-8 kvm |
500 watts (Printing) | 900 x 600 mm | 11-12 kvm |
320 W | 1200 x 350 mm | 7-8 kvm |
500 watts (Printing) | 1300 x 400 mm | 11-12 kvm |
600 W | 1100 x 600 mm | 13-14 kvm |
700 W | 1200 x 600 mm | 16-18 kvm |
900 W | 1400 x 600 mm | 20-22 kvm |
1400 W | 2000 x 800 mm | 26-28 kvm |
Can you get an electric shock when breaking glass?
No. Even in case of glass breakage, the panels are held together by comprehensive gluing
of the already double-insulated carbon fiber cloth. However, you should pull out the plug
immediately for safety reasons in case of glass breakage!
How hot does the surface of the IR heating element get?
Maximum surface temperature is approximately 95° C for glass heaters and 105° C for
metal heaters. There is no risk of burns when briefly touching the IR heating element.
Does the IR heating element create electrosmog?
The magnetic field created by IR heating elements is weaker than the field strength of a normal light bulb.
Can I cover the IR heating element?
It is not recommended to cover the heating element as it may affect
its efficiency and safety.
Can the IR heating element be mounted near a shower or bathtub?
The IR heating elements are splash-proof (IPX 2) according to TÜV certification, which makes them suitable for installation in bathrooms. Remember to keep a safety distance of 60 cm from the nearest water source.
What should I consider when installing and using IR heating elements?
Installation is simple: drill holes, hang the heater, connect to thermostat. Note that automatic control, such as a thermostat, not included in the delivery.
Are there wearing parts in IR heating elements?
No, there are no wearing parts. IR heating elements therefore require no
maintenance such as e.g. air heat pumps.
What certifications do IR heating elements have?
IR heating elements are certified by TÜV Süd with the TÜV/GS safety mark.
The CE mark confirms that the product complies with current European directives.
What is convection?
Convection is the heating of surrounding air, as with a conventional
radiator. However, IR heating elements create minimal convection, resulting in
less dust impact and more even heat distribution.
How much heat radiation does IR produce?
IR heating elements produce approximately 70% heat radiation and only 30%
convection. The efficiency is almost 100%, which means that almost all the
electricity used is converted into heat.
How do IR heating elements work?
The heat is generated by electrically conductive carbon fibers which are placed behind
a glass disc or metal plate. When voltage is applied, the fibers heat up and
give off pleasant infrared radiation.
What is infrared radiation?
Infrared radiation carries energy through electromagnetic waves.
This radiation heats bodies it hits, independent of the surrounding air.
Examples of natural sources of infrared radiation include the sun and open
fires.
